Watch the original

Teach your children that Proverbs 3:19–20 shows God built the world through wisdom, understanding, and knowledge — and define those three words for them: knowledge is knowing what's true, understanding is seeing how facts fit together, and wisdom is knowing what to do about it.

Key takeaways

Proverbs 3:19-20 pairs three distinct faculties: wisdom, understanding, knowledge

Proverbs 3:19-20 pairs three distinct faculties: wisdom, understanding, knowledge

  • Knowledge is knowing what's true; understanding is seeing how facts fit together; wisdom is knowing what to do with it.
  • The earth's creation used all three — not just knowledge — so mere facts without application misses God's design.

Use the sun-to-earth distance as a concrete family teaching tool for God's precision

  • Parents can look up the actual distance and present it as evidence of God 'establishing' the heavens (Prov 3:19).
